Coniston Water

Coniston Water is the Lake District’s third biggest lake after Windermere and Ullswater, covering five miles in length and half a mile at its widest point.

Located due west of the popular tourist location Windermere, Coniston Water has over the years become one of our favourite stop off points when we are hiking and trail running in the Lake District National Park.

We’ve seen incredible sunrises with glass like reflections of the mountains, including the Old Man of Coniston summit that dominates the westerly view. So many days here ended with sunsets that set the skyline ablaze as well as the most perfectly still nights with billions of stars lighting the lake up.

A couple of short sunrise timelapse clips shot on the GoPro camera. First one was ethereal and moody, second was just a sublime fresh February morning.
